The monster hotel is reopening its doors! After Hotel Transylvania: Transformania wrapped things up in 2022 as the supposed finale, a surprise update from star Keegan-Michael Key has confirmed Hotel Transylvania 5 is officially happening at Sony Pictures Animation.

What We Know About Hotel Transylvania 5 So Far

  • Production Status: Early production — voice recording kicks off soon (Key’s words put it right now in prep).
  • Release Window: No date locked in, but animation timelines point to late 2027 or early 2028. Voice work starting this year lines up perfectly for that window.
  • Cast Expectations: Key is back as Murray. The gang should return:
    • Dracula (Brian Hull most recently, fingers crossed for Adam Sandler cameo/return)
    • Mavis (Selena Gomez)
    • Johnny (Andy Samberg)
    • Wayne, Griffin, Frankenstein, and more
  • Plot: Total mystery. Past movies mixed hotel chaos, family adventures, and monster-human vibes — expect more of that wild energy.
  • Theatrical or Streaming?: TBD. Early films were box-office champs; the fourth went Prime Video. Could go big-screen again or hybrid.
