The Force is strong with this announcement! Hayden Christensen will officially reprise his iconic role as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2, sending Star Wars fans into a frenzy at this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo.

Anakin’s Big Return Confirmed
During a panel with creator Dave Filoni, executive producer Jon Favreau, and star Rosario Dawson, Christensen made a surprise appearance after a teaser clip played—showing a mysterious scene between Anakin and Ahsoka. The crowd erupted as he confirmed:
“There’s not much I can share, but Anakin will be back for Season 2.”
This marks Christensen’s fourth return as Anakin/Darth Vader since his prequel trilogy days, following Obi-Wan Kenobi and his ghostly (and digitally de-aged) appearances in Ahsoka Season 1.
What Else to Expect in Season 2?
Filoni and Favreau dropped a few more exciting details:
✔ Rory McCann (Game of Thrones’ The Hound) will take over as Baylan Skoll, replacing the late Ray Stevenson.
✔ Admiral Ackbar returns for a showdown with Grand Admiral Thrawn.
✔ Filoni cited Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke as a major influence on Ahsoka’s tone.
✔ Production begins next week in the U.K.

Why Fans Are Hyped
Christensen’s Anakin has become one of Star Wars’ most beloved figures—redeemed through The Clone Wars, revisited in Obi-Wan, and now deepening his bond with Ahsoka. His comeback also highlights Lucasfilm’s commitment to connecting eras, blending prequel nostalgia with new storytelling.
The Celebration’s Biggest Star
Anecdotally, Christensen was the hottest ticket at Star Wars Celebration Tokyo—his photo ops (208)costmorethanRosarioDawson’s(208)costmorethanRosarioDawson’s(181) or Diego Luna’s ($160). Not bad for an actor who once stepped back from Hollywood!
Ahsoka Season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but with filming starting soon, expect more updates—and hopefully, another lightsaber showdown or two.
