Heated Rivalry Episode 5 IMDb 10/10: Ties Breaking Bad's Ozymandias as Highest-Rated TV Episode Ever

The internet is losing it over Heated Rivalry – the steamy queer hockey romance series that’s become 2025’s biggest TV obsession. And now, Episode 5 (“I’ll Believe in Anything”) has made history with a perfect 10/10 rating on IMDb, tying Breaking Bad’s iconic “Ozymandias” as one of the highest-rated TV episodes ever!

Based on Rachel Reid’s bestselling Game Changers novels, Heated Rivalry follows rival NHL stars Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie). Their on-ice hatred hides a passionate secret romance, full of tension, emotion, and groundbreaking queer representation in the hyper-masculine world of pro hockey.

Released on December 19, Episode 5 exploded with thousands of votes pushing it to that rare perfect score. Fans call it emotional, raw, and transformative – focusing on personal struggles, self-acceptance, and deep connections. No new episode had hit 10/10 in over 12 years, making this a massive win for queer storytelling.

Actors are stunned too: Hudson Williams posted “HUHHHHHHHH?!!?? 😭” on Instagram, while others shared “wtf” reactions. The show itself climbed to IMDb’s Top 250 TV chart and dominates streaming rankings.

Critics praise its bold intimacy, heartfelt writing by Jacob Tierney (Letterkenny), and authentic portrayal of closeted athletes. With Season 2 already renewed and the finale dropping December 26, hype is at fever pitch.

Heated Rivalry proves diverse stories can dominate – representation matters, and fans are voting with perfect 10s!
