The Monsterverse is expanding again — and this time, a brand-new Titan may be rising from the ocean depths.
New details from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 reveal that the story will take viewers to a mysterious coastal village, where a “mythical Titan rises from the sea.”
With Godzilla already active in this timeline, it’s clear this mysterious creature is someone — or something — entirely new. But is it an original Titan created for the show, or is Legendary finally pulling another famous Toho monster into the Monsterverse?
The possibilities are exciting, especially after Monarch co-creator Chris Black said that any Toho creation is available if they want to bring it into the Monsterverse.
So let’s break down the five most likely monsters that could be the next Titan introduced in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2.
1. Giant Octopus — A Tribute to Kong’s Classic Battle

The Monsterverse has a habit of honoring classic kaiju moments, and the giant octopus is one of King Kong’s earliest unforgettable foes.
In the 1962 film King Kong vs. Godzilla, Kong battles a massive octopus attacking a coastal village — exactly the kind of scene Monarch season 2’s synopsis hints at. Bringing back a giant octopus would be a direct homage and a clever way to connect current Monsterverse lore to iconic Toho history.
However, there’s one small issue…
Kong already fought octopus-like creatures in Kong: Skull Island and Netflix’s Skull Island anime. That repetition might make the creators hesitant to use another tentacled Titan. Still, as a symbolic callback, it fits perfectly.
2. Leviathan — The Monsterverse’s Own “Loch Ness Monster”

One Titan already exists in Monsterverse lore that naturally fits the description: Leviathan, the aquatic creature secretly monitored in Scotland’s Loch Ness.
This Titan was mentioned in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, confirming that all the old Loch Ness Monster sightings were actually connected to Leviathan. Since Monarch season 2 is set in 2017 — before Godzilla’s re-emergence — Leviathan’s introduction would line up perfectly with the timeline.
If the coastal village in season 2 is near deep waters connected to Leviathan, we might finally see this legendary Titan rise onscreen for the first time.
3. Ebirah — The Classic Lobster Kaiju From Toho’s Vault

Ebirah, the gigantic monster lobster, first appeared in Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1964). Although this creature has never crossed paths with Kong on-screen, it almost happened — the original script was supposed to be King Kong vs. Ebirah before Toho replaced Kong with Godzilla.
That unrealized matchup could finally be brought to life.
Given the season’s focus on Kong and Skull Island’s strange ecosystems, Ebirah would fit the ocean-dwelling monster theme perfectly. Ebirah rising from the sea to threaten a village aligns exactly with Monarch’s episode synopsis.
A Kong vs. Ebirah showdown in the Monsterverse would be a historic deep cut for longtime fans.
4. Titanosaurus — The Monsterverse’s Next Benevolent Titan?

While many assume the new Titan will be a villain, it’s completely possible the show might introduce a benevolent sea guardian instead.
And Titanosaurus is the best candidate for that.
Even though Titanosaurus was used as a villain in Terror of Mechagodzilla, his original characterization was peaceful — a gentle aquatic creature manipulated by humans. The Monsterverse already features multiple guardian Titans, such as Mothra, so exploring a heroic sea Titan makes sense.
If the mysterious village worships or coexists with the Titan, Titanosaurus could be reimagined as the protector of the region rather than the threat.
It would also let Monarch broaden the emotional depth of the story instead of focusing only on destructive monsters.
5. Manda — The Sea Serpent That Fits Perfectly Into Monsterverse Lore

Among all possibilities, Manda might be the most seamless fit.
Originally introduced in Atragon, Manda is a giant sea serpent associated with the ancient underwater empire of Mu. Considering how the Monsterverse already features hidden civilizations, Hollow Earth lore, and monster guardians, Manda would blend in naturally.
He has history as both a villain and an ally, giving the writers freedom to shape his role however they want. The Monsterverse already embraces dragons, serpents, and other mythical creatures, so Manda’s design and background require almost no modification.
If the new Titan is meant to be ancient, mysterious, and tied to forgotten civilizations, Manda might be the strongest candidate.
Which Titan Will Rise?
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is gearing up to introduce a Titan that may reshape Monsterverse lore. Whether it’s:
- a classic Toho creature like Manda,
- a returning concept like Ebirah,
- a protector like Titanosaurus,
- a nostalgic callback like the giant octopus,
- or even the long-awaited Leviathan…
…the possibilities open the door for one of the Monsterverse’s most exciting reveals yet.
With Godzilla and Kong dominating theaters, Monarch has the perfect opportunity to introduce new Titans on the small screen — expanding the universe in ways movies might not.
One thing’s certain:
A new Titan is coming, and Monsterverse fans are ready.
